Requirements
Must:
- Deep expertise in PostgreSQL performance tuning, indexing, and query optimization at scale
- Extensive experience with Prisma ORM and its query generation behavior
- Strong experience operating production systems on Vercel serverless infrastructure
- Proficient in implementing read replicas and strategies for high availability databases
- Comprehensive knowledge of CDN and edge caching configuration with Cloudflare
- Hands-on experience utilizing observability tools such as Grafana, Axiom, Sentry, and synthetic monitoring
- Production-level experience with Next.js and NestJS
- Strong understanding of connection pooling, batching, and database connection management
- Experience in developing alerting systems to detect performance regressions early
- High autonomy mindset with a preference for working within remote, async-first settings
- Excellent written communication skills and calm demeanor during incident communications
- Experience with zero downtime database migration strategies
- Knowledge of edge computing and Vercel Edge Functions
- Familiarity with distributed caching systems like Redis or Memcached
- Acquaintance with load testing tools and performance testing methodologies
- Experience in optimizing cloud infrastructure for cost versus performance
- Ability to operate within the Americas timezones
- 8+ years of experience in relevant fields
Responsibilities
- Optimize and scale the performance of our core platform handling large data volumes
- Ensure efficiency and resilience of queries, indexes, caching layers, and global infrastructure under load
- Collaborate with engineering, SRE, and foundational teams to identify and resolve bottlenecks proactively
- Design systems that avert performance degradation prior to user impact
- Participate in incident response and maintain system reliability
- Conduct performance tuning and extensive query optimization as needed
- Engage in hands-on engineering across database architecture and observability
- Monitor observability tools and address any performance concerns promptly
- Create systems for early detection of performance issues impacting production
- Foster effective communication with team members throughout various departments
