Requirements
Must:
- Minimum of three to six years of experience in system administration of Linux-based servers and workstations
- Strong troubleshooting abilities in RHEL 7/8/9 operating systems
- Basic understanding of networking fundamentals, particularly the TCP/IP protocol suite and IP configuration
- Knowledge of security guidelines and policies (DISA STIGs) and related tools (Evaluate-STIG, STIG-Manager)
- Familiarity with the Tenable suite of products (Security Center, Nessus Scanner, Nessus Agent) is advantageous
- Experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL 8.x; RHEL 7.x and/or RHEL 9.x is a plus)
- Must meet DoD 8570 Information Assurance Workforce (IAWF) criteria or possess Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level II certification (e.g., Security+) at the time of hire
- Understanding of corporate services including DNS, SMTP, RHEV, Splunk, and Apache is beneficial
- Demonstrated experience in managing IT infrastructure installation and maintenance
- Hardware knowledge of Dell systems is a plus
- Experience in settings with rapidly changing job priorities
- Familiarity with Remedy ITSM Ticket Management is preferred
- Linux+ or Red Hat Certification is desirable
- Ability to lift 10-15 pounds, stand and walk for extended periods, and perform twisting, bending, and squatting
- Must be capable of obtaining and maintaining a Top Secret security clearance; US Citizenship is required
Responsibilities
- Provide technical problem-solving and consultative support for system operations using Red Hat Enterprise Linux
- Offer expertise in data gathering, analysis, and reporting for the Cybersecurity Compliance Assessment Tool on a monthly basis
- Assist with the development of the Dahlgren Information Repository for Cybersecurity and automate data consolidation for improved cyber compliance reporting
- Develop and automate installation methods and system imaging using tools such as Kickstart and Ansible
- Set up and manage Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) for digital certificates and public-key encryption
- Implement DISA STIG guidelines within Configuration-Managed Environments
- Analyze, design, and implement software modifications to enhance system performance
- Plan hardware acquisitions and collaborate with vendors and other projects
- Assist engineers with the use of workstations and servers to address computational challenges
- Support application installation, license management, software distribution, and backup/recovery of configurations and user data
- Operate running systems including booting, process management, and control of services
- Configure local storage and file systems with appropriate permissions and attributes
- Deploy, configure, and maintain systems alongside software updates and core services
- Manage user and group authentication via centralized directories
- Generate and present reports on system utilization
- Automate maintenance tasks using shell scripting
- Configure system logging and networking services such as HTTP/HTTPS, DNS, SMTP, SSH, and NTP
