I am looking for a strong candidate with expertise in computer networking concepts and protocols, as well as in network security methodologies. The ideal applicant should possess knowledge of network security architecture concepts including topology, protocols, components, and principles, such as defense-in-depth and the concept of zero trust. Familiarity with basic system, network, and operating system hardening techniques is essential. Additionally, understanding of intrusion detection and prevention system tools, network protocols like TCP/IP, dynamic host configuration, domain name system (DNS), and directory services is required. Knowledge of application vulnerabilities, system administration across various operating systems including Unix/Linux, iOS, Android, and Windows is also necessary. Preferred qualifications include knowledge of cyber threats and vulnerabilities, operational impacts of cybersecurity lapses, and access control mechanisms.
Responsibilities
As the ISSO/Systems Security Engineer, my responsibilities include conducting vulnerability scans and identifying security system vulnerabilities using DoD network analysis tools (e.g., ACAS, HBSS). I will perform application vulnerability assessments, pinpoint systemic security issues through vulnerability and configuration data analysis, and provide valuable insights regarding the organization's threat environment to enhance risk management efforts. My role also involves applying cybersecurity and privacy principles relevant to confidentiality, integrity, and availability, as well as troubleshooting and diagnosing anomalies in cyber defense infrastructure to work towards resolutions. Additionally, I will conduct impact and risk assessments to inform decision-making.
Description
This position requires the capability to lift up to 10 pounds and maintain physical activity such as standing, walking, twisting, bending, and squatting for extended periods. A Top Secret security clearance must be obtained, although starting with a Secret clearance is acceptable. It is important to note that U.S. Citizenship is a prerequisite for obtaining a Top Secret clearance at this facility.
