Requirements
Must:
- High school diploma or equivalent education
- Proficient verbal and written communication skills
- Effective ability to read and comprehend reports and policies
- Strong mathematical skills for calculating and verifying money
- Problem-solving abilities to collect data and draw conclusions
- Valid state-issued drivers license
- Capability to handle volatile situations with verbal de-escalation
- Basic computer skills and willingness to learn various software
- Ability to work independently under limited supervision
- Must meet physical demands including extended standing and running
- Must maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards
- Must be bondable and at least 21 years old
- Must successfully pass a drug test
Responsibilities
- Supervise and monitor inmate activities within the facility
- Check previous shift logs and population counts at shift start
- Maintain a continuous log of shift-related activities
- Process incoming inmates into the management system, including securing personal property
- Regularly check on inmate conditions and activities
- Escort inmates to designated areas for recreation, medical services, and court appearances
- Oversee work assignments ensuring compliance with procedures
- Complete all necessary documentation for inmate releases and issue receipts
- Transport inmates for medical or legal needs as required
- Communicate with the public and respond to inquiries
- Conduct and monitor court hearings conducted via video
- Provide emergency medical assistance when necessary
- Uphold all federal, state, and local laws and jail policies
