Requirements
Must:
- 8 years of professional experience in software engineering and quality assurance, specifically overseeing QA/test methodologies throughout the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
- 3 years of experience leading or mentoring engineering and QA teams in a technical capacity (such as Test Lead, Principal QA Engineer, or comparable roles)
- 8 years of proficiency with test automation frameworks for unit and integration testing, including tools like GoogleTest, Catch2, pFUnit, and pytest
- Familiarity with tracking and reporting QA metrics, including test coverage, pass rates, flakiness, cycle time, and MTTR, and communicating quality status to stakeholders
- Bachelors Degree in a related field such as engineering, data science, mathematics, computer science, or software engineering (or equivalent)
- Practical experience in testing and validating numerical or legacy code, including FORTRAN integration or similar emerging validation techniques
- Hands-on testing experience with C++ applications on both macOS and Windows platforms
- Experience in integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines and setting release gating criteria, including managing flaky tests and establishing metrics-based quality gates
- Proficiency in designing and executing numerical verification and tolerance checks, as well as conducting stochastic testing for performance algorithms
- Background in managing cross-platform testing environments and reproducible build/test infrastructures using tools such as CMake and CI agents
- Experience in regulatory compliance and documenting verification and validation artifacts for audits
Responsibilities
- Develop and take ownership of the testing strategy and quality roadmap for our software portfolio, including unit, integration, system, regression, performance, and acceptance testing
- Lead the planning of tests, design test cases, and manage test data while mapping risk-based coverage to product and regulatory necessities
- Architect and implement automated testing frameworks and harnesses for C++ and FORTRAN applications, alongside relevant service and database layers
- Integrate automated testing procedures into CI/CD pipelines, setting criteria for gate releases, handling flaky tests, and defining metrics for quality assessment
- Conduct numerical verifications, tolerance evaluations, and stochastic tests for airplane performance algorithms, and establish benchmark and golden-reference artifacts
- Oversee cross-platform testing environments and build/test infrastructures that are reproducible, utilizing CMake and containers/VMs alongside test orchestration tools
- Initiate performance testing, including stress tests and memory analysis, to ensure reliability and scalability across applications
- Document requirements-to-test traceability and prepare V&V artifacts essential for audits and compliance with regulations
- Implement static and dynamic analysis tools within pipelines to maintain coverage and code quality
- Manage test data, including database migrations/rollback scenarios and SQL correctness tests, while ensuring access to representative datasets
- Mentor and guide engineers on design for testability, as well as best practices in test automation and development methodologies
- Lead response efforts for test or integration failures, outlining runbooks and facilitating Root Cause Analysis to minimize recurrence
- Track and communicate QA metrics and present overall quality status to relevant stakeholders
- Build and maintain relationships with external suppliers/vendors for testing tools and platform services, while assessing licensing and support considerations
