Director of Software Engineering, Millennium Space

- Lead and motivate the software engineering team to deliver technical outputs, adhere to schedules, and manage budgets - Serve as the primary advocate for the engineering team, ensuring they have the necessary resources to excel - Communicate ongoing developments within the company to the engineering teams, providing context to navigate challenges - Define and maintain technical standards and direction for engineering teams - Standardize project management tools to ensure consistency in our design implementation - Establish performance objectives and KPIs that align with overall company goals and track engineering effectiveness - Oversee risk management initiatives across teams, prioritizing critical issues - Review and approve proposal estimates and technical baselines; manage bidding efforts - Facilitate communication between program directors and project managers regarding technical deliverables and overall performance - Collaborate with cross-functional teams to standardize tools, processes, and analyses - Partner with Quality and Safety teams to ensure all standards reflect current team practices - Support manufacturing leadership to enhance manufacturability and resolve complex non-conformances - Work alongside Program Management to achieve execution milestones and address obstacles - Seek opportunities for process improvement and prioritize cross-team relationships - Supervise the approval and management of tools/software for engineering teams - Oversee operational budgets, including meetings, software, training, and tools - Mentor and conduct performance reviews of front-line managers and direct reports - Identify talent for Technical Fellow roles and career progression - Sponsor initiatives that drive innovation and identify transformational technologies
