Requirements
Must:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, or equivalent qualifications related to the work statement
- Level 3: 5+ years of relevant work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Level 4: 9+ years of relevant work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- 2+ years of hands-on experience in the aviation and/or safety domain (e.g. pilot, air traffic controller, etc.)
- Proficiency in understanding data concepts to derive insights from data
- Knowledge of basic statistical principles
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to articulate concise safety findings and present effectively to cross-functional teams
- Capacity to work collaboratively across functions and manage multiple priorities
- 5+ years of experience working with real-world data
Responsibilities
- Conduct system research and analysis to identify and evaluate potential in-service fleet hazards, risks, and safety issues while quantifying their impacts
- Identify systemic root causes of safety and mission assurance issues and recommend corrective measures utilizing industry best practices
- Collaborate with internal and external partners to define, verify, and integrate safety, mission success, and airworthiness requirements into designs, operations, and processes
- Develop and maintain analytical tools and data-driven processes to assess safety risks and promote safety enhancements
- Document safety analyses, hazard mitigation strategies, verification and validation activities in line with customer and regulatory safety standards
- Contribute to the development of global safety advocacy strategies, training, tools, and methods
- Ingest, clean, combine, and validate various aviation data sources (e.g., ADS B, FMS, FOQA, maintenance logs, textual reports)
- Perform exploratory, statistical, and trajectory-based analyses to uncover safety trends, anomalies, and risk factors
- Develop, validate, and sustain analytics, models, and monitoring systems (descriptive, diagnostic, predictive, or prescriptive) to assess risk and evaluate mitigations
- Create reusable data products and visualizations (dashboards, reports, alerts) to inform engineering, operations, and safety stakeholders
- Translate analysis outcomes into clear safety findings, recommendations, and corrective action plans
- Communicate, collaborate, and present to cross-functional teams
- Work with data engineers, ML engineers, safety engineers, flight operations, and regulatory stakeholders to operationalize insights
