Requirements
Must:
- A high school diploma or equivalent, and/or one year of experience in a hotel or related field is essential.
- Preferred candidates will have at least two years of increasing experience in a hotel or related industry.
- Trade school or college coursework in a relevant field is desirable.
- Flexibility with long hours may be needed.
- Heavy lifting may be required, with the ability to exert over 100 pounds occasionally, over 50 pounds frequently, and over 20 pounds constantly.
- A warm and friendly demeanor is vital at all times.
- Capability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with employees and guests in an attentive, friendly, and service-oriented manner.
- Effective listening and comprehension skills to address concerns raised by employees and guests.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
- A courteous and service-oriented approach in interactions with guests and employees.
- Participation in all required hotel meetings and training sessions is expected.
- Consistent attendance in accordance with Highgate Hotel standards is necessary, varying according to hotel needs.
- High standards of personal appearance and grooming, including uniform and nametag adherence, are required.
- Compliance with Highgate Hotel standards and regulations to ensure efficient hotel operations is essential.
- Proactive problem-solving skills and the ability to anticipate needs, alongside adapting to complex information to achieve objectives, are critical.
Responsibilities
- Repair and maintain hotel air conditioning systems, including changing filters, cleaning coils, and replacing motors.
- Conduct preventive maintenance on all equipment including boilers, chillers, and HVAC systems.
- Take necessary readings on various equipment and document findings.
- Test and record readings from cooling towers.
- Replace and program televisions and light switches as necessary.
- Carry out furniture repairs and replace or repair pumps.
- Perform plumbing repairs such as unclogging drains and changing fittings.
- Understand and interpret blueprints and wiring diagrams.
- Trace and repair all types of water lines.
- Troubleshoot and repair kitchen equipment as needed.
- Maintain records for repairs and preventive maintenance.
- Ensure all work complies with local, state, and federal codes.
- Test, clean, and repair swimming pools and spas.
- Paint designated areas and repair wall coverings and sheetrock.
- Repair and program the hotel’s electronic lock system.
- Assist in supervising other engineering staff members and scheduling preventive maintenance tasks.
