Requirements
Must:
- An associate degree in Computer Science, Information Systems/Sciences, or a closely related field.
- A minimum of two years of pertinent experience in constructing, integrating, and maintaining Linux systems infrastructure, showcasing adeptness in systems and server administration.
- Knowledge of system development principles, processes, and requirements gathering.
- Experience engaging with enterprise information systems, file servers, networked data storage, application software, and disaster recovery tools.
- Ability to understand and apply technical configuration specifications for servers, server operating systems, networked data storage, and disaster recovery systems.
- Familiarity with UNIX and Linux shell scripting.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- A systematic and organized approach to document creation and maintenance.
- Effective interpersonal and communication abilities, with a proven capability to collaborate within team-centric environments. Comfort in navigating ambiguity and change within evolving workplaces.
Responsibilities
- Execute complex analytical, programming, and maintenance tasks linked to supporting various systems, services, and interfaces.
- Install, configure, and maintain the University's Linux environments, including designing the system architecture, installing databases, and creating scripts for specific application needs.
- Conduct routine system maintenance, address server-side problems as they occur, generate system backups, monitor performance, and uphold system-level security.
- Assist in exploring and becoming acquainted with emerging technologies with the intention of implementation and act as a resource for establishing standards for these technologies.
- Collaborate with the Associate Director, team members, project leaders, managers, and other departments on technical designs and consultations.
- Aid in maintaining and reviewing a centralized documentation repository. This documentation should articulate the infrastructure and architecture of the systems, program development, logic, coding, testing, changes, modifications, and operational execution instructions.
- Support the University's server, storage, and data infrastructure.
- Able to interpret and apply technical configuration specifications for servers, server operating systems, networked data storage, and disaster recovery systems.
- Provide technical support and guidance to functional areas and end-users as needed.
- Undertake other department-specific applications and activities as assigned.
- Demonstrate an ability to work effectively in a team setting, while managing uncertainty in a dynamic business environment.
