Requirements
Must:
- A minimum of five (5) years of experience in a computer-related field.
- High School Diploma is required; an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a relevant area is preferred, though work experience may substitute for the degree.
- Must possess a valid Texas Driver’s license with an acceptable driving history.
- Must be eligible to be insured as a driver by the Cooperative's group liability policy for the automotive fleet.
- NRECA certification in supervision and/or management is required within three (3) years of being appointed to the position.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact respectfully and professionally with coworkers, cooperative members, and broadband subscribers.
- Must be able to lift and move packages weighing approximately 40 pounds.
- Ability to operate all office equipment and effectively use relevant software, including a comprehensive understanding of website coding languages and server systems.
- Proficient in addressing and analyzing technical issues, network configurations, and troubleshooting equipment.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and develop personnel in the IT department, ensuring work is executed accurately and professionally.
- Manage technical projects, including timelines, budgets, and vendor relations, while overseeing the performance and daily activities of team members.
- Conduct performance evaluations and recommend salary adjustments, promotions, hiring, and terminations as necessary.
- Monitor and maintain the internet service provider system and troubleshoot connectivity issues.
- Plan and coordinate IT and security maintenance and upgrades, ensuring all systems are secure and compliant with relevant standards.
- Serve as the main point of contact for the Chief Broadband Officer regarding IT, security, and communications system matters.
- Communicate and report on departmental objectives and supervise the development of reports needed by other departments.
- Manage backups of cooperative data for disaster recovery purposes and ensure compliance with security directives from external agencies.
- Train and assist personnel in improving their proficiency with technical systems.
Description
The position of IT/Security Supervisor holds significant responsibility for ensuring reliable and cost-effective services. It requires dynamic oversight of the IT infrastructure supporting our internet service provider subsidiary and internal cooperative network. As the IT/Security Supervisor, I expect you to possess strong leadership skills and comprehensive knowledge of the Information Technology field, demonstrating expertise across various IT roles, including System Administration and Technical Support. This role mainly involves working indoors in an office environment, with expectations for responsiveness to supervision and collaboration within a team. You will need to handle multiple tasks and manage projects effectively while maintaining a high level of organization and attention to detail. Although the job may require working longer hours during emergency situations, we strive to foster a supportive and productive work environment that continually encourages professional development and growth.
