Requirements
Must:
- Over 10 years of expertise in IBM AS400 CLP and COBOL within an Ingenium PAS setting.
- Development experience in INGENIUM, specifically versions 5.x - 7.x.
- Familiarity or relevant experience in a systems development or production environment supporting life insurance applications.
- Knowledge of software development methodologies, concepts, and technologies gained through formal training or practical experience.
- Understanding of the technical and business landscape, particularly related to life insurance products (including whole life, term, disability, universal life, wealth, and health).
- Hands-on proficiency with the INGENIUM product and its business process functionalities.
- Experience in documentation creation using JIRA and Confluence.
- Competence in grasping testing requirements, drafting test plans, writing, and executing test cases.
- Insight into the functional and technical aspects of the underlying operating system, development environment, and deployment procedures.
- A strong understanding of the ecosystem in which the code operates.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong collaborative and team-oriented abilities.
- Proficient analytical and problem-solving skills, with in-depth knowledge.
Responsibilities
- Develop and author intricate software implementations and code, ensuring compliance with security, logging, error management, and performance standards.
- Write, configure, and integrate code to produce software that meets specified requirements and adheres to architectural benchmarks and technology practices.
- Translate business needs into comprehensive design specifications and code.
- Design, develop, test, and sustain applications utilizing COBOL and AS400 CLP.
- Analyze the repercussions of design choices on the computing solution/product/service, and suggest alternative or innovative solutions if necessary.
- Monitor, analyze, and enhance application system performance while resolving maintenance issues.
- Address production challenges, including independently performing root-cause analysis and diagnosis.
- Recognize the effects of various elements, including technology strategy and architecture, on the overarching design of a program, system, or ecosystem.
- Conduct detailed code reviews and offer constructive feedback.
- Devise solutions, produce code, carry out unit testing, create associated documentation, and oversee final delivery.
- Invent new algorithms and data structures tailored to target environments and platform specifications, in harmony with architectural patterns.
- Recommend or automate methods to enhance and streamline technological processes and systems for improved operational efficacy.
- Assist in managing specific project deliverables and outcomes.
- Work autonomously and frequently manage non-routine scenarios.
- Execute unit, integration, and regression testing to validate functionality according to project specifications or the operations of mainframe systems.
