Requirements
Must:
- At least 8 years of experience in a technical security role within a large enterprise environment
- Extensive knowledge of cloud security architecture, including identity management, network security, encryption, and security monitoring across major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)
- Strong understanding of AI/ML security principles, including model security, data protection, adversarial machine learning, and secure ML pipelines
- Solid grasp of cloud security frameworks and standards (NIST, ISO 27001, SOC 2, CSA CCM)
- Experience in leading the development and support of enterprise security capabilities and platforms
- In-depth knowledge of Cloud Native Security Architecture, Zero Trust principles, and Security-as-Code
- Comprehensive understanding of Cloud Security, DevSecOps, threat modeling, and enterprise change management processes
- Proven technical leadership skills, including mentoring, team development, and conflict resolution
- Experience with implementing security automation, CI/CD security integration, and DevSecOps methodologies
- Advanced communication skills suited for diverse audiences (written, verbal, presentation)
- Critical thinking and strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, along with capability in multitasking and prioritizing
- Ability to engage with security vendors and collaborate closely with our Vendor Management function
- Strong organizational and strategic management skills, including budgeting and business planning
- Advanced relationship management skills, partnering with internal and external senior management and executive roles
- Extensive business knowledge and technical expertise in cloud security, AI security, and security product areas
- Relevant security certifications preferred (CISSP, CCSP, CISM, or equivalent)
- A collaborative team player, self-driven with a positive outlook
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Security and Platform Engineering leadership to guide the development of scalable and resilient cloud and AI security frameworks, encompassing threat detection, identity and access management, data protection, and security monitoring
- Lead the design and deployment of security architectures for Cloud Platforms and AI/ML systems, including model security, data pipeline protection, and adversarial threat responses
- Enhance team capacity through new hires, coaching, training, and active leadership while upholding BMO Values
- Create and sustain an environment that fosters client service, teamwork, feedback, recognition, mutual respect, and employee satisfaction, ensuring quality in hiring, training, and succession planning that reflects the companys commitment to diversity
- Oversee the daily activities of the Cloud and AI Security Engineering team, which includes security product assessments, deployment, development of security patterns, service integration, infrastructure-as-code automation, and best practice documentation
- Formulate both long- and short-term action plans for the Cloud and AI Security Engineering team aligning with enterprise objectives
- Maintain collaborative leadership with senior executives to promote security goals that enhance operational efficiencies and risk management
- Champion adherence to Agile methodologies, including serving as scrum lead
- Establish and uphold security standards, policies, and compliance frameworks for cloud and AI environments
- Collaborate with Enterprise Security, Risk Management, and Compliance teams to ensure alignment with regulatory requirements and industry standards
