Requirements
Must:
- 10+ years in roles focused on cloud engineering, DevOps, or platform engineering
- Profound practical knowledge of Azure services, including compute, networking, identity, storage, security, policy, AKS, and pipelines
- Familiarity with AWS services such as IAM, EC2, VPC, ECS/EKS, and CDK
- Strong programming expertise in TypeScript or Node.js; advanced knowledge of Python is also acceptable
- Practical experience with Docker containers and orchestration using Kubernetes or AKS
- Solid understanding of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and Platform as Code (PaC) utilizing tools like Terraform, Bicep, Pulumi, or CDK
- Proven track record in developing and managing CI/CD pipelines with Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or Jenkins
- Experience in designing secure, multi-tenant enterprise-level cloud platforms
- Outstanding leadership and communication skills
Responsibilities
- Guide the architecture of our Azure cloud platform to ensure secure, scalable landing zones and automated provisioning mechanisms
- Manage and improve our Platform-as-Code (PaC) frameworks for infrastructure and entity management, with a focus on Azure (AWS knowledge is a plus)
- Create and implement deployment pipelines that facilitate multi-environment delivery using standardized GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, or Jenkins workflows
- Serve as the primary technical authority in Azure platform engineering, including automation standards and reusable components
- Develop foundational modules to enhance the self-service experience for application and data teams
- Work collaboratively with security, networking, and DevOps groups to guarantee compliance and excellence in operations
- Engage in hands-on development of various deployment patterns and self-service modules
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to mid-level and junior engineers
- Foster innovation in our cloud platform leveraging modern tools, best practices in IaC, and governance automation

We are looking for a Principal Cloud Platform Engineer with extensive experience in Azure Cloud and relevant knowledge of AWS to join our technology team at BMO Financial Group, located at 33 Dundas Street West. In this leadership role, you will help architect, build, and advance our cloud platform which operates as a product, including deployment architectures and CI/CD pipelines.
