Requirements
Must:
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Over 5 years of experience in developing embedded or safety-critical software.
- Practical experience in a DO-178C (or DO-178B) development setting.
- Strong grasp of software architecture principles for real-time, deterministic systems.
- Experience in creating and reviewing low-level requirements and software design documentation.
- Proficiency in C/C++ or comparable programming languages used in avionics systems.
- Familiarity with FAA or EASA certification programs (preferred).
- Understanding of ARINC 653, RTOS environments, or partitioned systems (preferred).
- Exposure to model-based design, static analysis, or requirements management tools (preferred).
- Experience supporting DAL B or DAL C software projects (preferred).
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain software architectures for avionics and safety-critical systems aligned with DO-178C assumed DALs.
- Break down high-level and low-level requirements into clear, testable software designs.
- Define software components, interfaces, data flows, and control logic appropriate for embedded real-time systems.
- Ensure architectural choices promote determinism, robustness, and fault containment.
- Assist in achieving DO-178C objectives throughout the software lifecycle, including planning and verification.
- Generate and review certification artifacts like software design descriptions and traceability data.
- Collaborate with verification engineers to ensure all requirements are verifiable and testable.
- Participate in design reviews, code reviews, and certification audits.
- Provide technical support to software developers on implementing low-level requirements in C/C++ or similar languages.
- Help with integration, debugging, and troubleshooting on target hardware or simulation environments.
- Ensure alignment between architecture, implementation, and verification outcomes.
- Work collaboratively with systems engineering, safety, hardware, and testing teams to ensure software design meets system-level requirements.
- Communicate technical choices effectively through diagrams and documentation.
