Requirements
Must:
- Proven hands-on experience in developing web applications using Python.
- Demonstrated expertise with Dash or comparable Python web frameworks.
- Experience in implementing user entitlements, role-based access control, and authentication models.
- Familiarity with deploying and supporting applications on Microsoft Azure services (e.g., App Services, Azure Functions, Azure AD).
- Background in financial services or similarly regulated industries.
- Exposure to cloud-based CI/CD pipelines and enterprise DevOps methodologies.
- Prior collaboration with security, risk management, or compliance teams.
- Success in enhancing existing applications for compliance in enterprise or regulated environments.
- Understanding of regulatory requirements such as audit logging, access controls, and secure data handling practices.
- Ability to rapidly evaluate and improve an existing codebase.
- Comfortable working autonomously and taking comprehensive ownership of project outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Take ownership of and enhance a current Python web application, driving it toward enterprise-grade reliability and compliance.
- Act as the technical lead for efforts focused on application hardening, including architecture, security, and operational readiness.
- Evaluate the existing Python application architecture to align with enterprise standards.
- Refactor and optimize code for better maintainability and performance.
- Establish and document clear design patterns and development standards.
- Implement user entitlements and role-based access control mechanisms.
- Ensure secure authentication practices adhere to enterprise identity standards.
- Collaborate with security teams to address findings and compliance requirements.
- Modify the application to meet stringent regulatory and compliance standards.
- Implement robust monitoring, logging, and traceability to facilitate audits and operational oversight.
- Work towards ensuring the application is deployment-ready for enterprise support.
- Enhance reliability, error handling, and observability of the application.
- Assist with deployment, environmental readiness, and transition to production support teams.
- Communicate updates, risks, and trade-offs clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Description
We are a mid-town NYC financial firm looking for a proactive Python Web Developer on a contract basis for approximately six months, with potential for extension based on performance and project needs. This role requires the ability to work onsite three days per week. Our team is committed to elevating an existing Python-based web application to enterprise-class standards with a focus on architecture, security, scalability, and compliance while collaborating closely with product, security, and platform stakeholders. We offer a competitive pay rate ranging from $80 to $90 per hour.
