Requirements
Must:
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
- 5+ years of professional experience in software development
- 4+ years of leadership experience with direct reports, including disciplinary responsibility
- Strong proficiency in C++ (preferably C++17) and ideally Python 3
- Proven experience leading or managing a software engineering team
- Excellent analytical and communication skills in English
- Strong organizational skills and eagerness to learn quickly
- Experience with Git, Linux, CMake, and/or QML (preferred)
- Familiarity with embedded systems or computer vision domains (preferred)
- Previous collaboration with Data Scientists or cross-functional R&D teams (preferred)
Responsibilities
- Identify the most effective technical approach to achieve strategic goals
- Conduct thorough code reviews to elevate technical standards within the engineering team
- Convert technical and business needs into high-performance embedded C++ libraries
- Design and implement robust, efficient, well-tested, and scalable components for our biometric authentication platform
- Lead, manage, and mentor a diverse team of 11 Software Engineers and Data Scientists, maintaining full disciplinary responsibility
- Cultivate a high-performing, collaborative engineering culture centered on excellence and continuous improvement
- Translate business and product requirements into clear technical guidance for the team
- Create a supportive environment where engineers can thrive, innovate, and excel
- Serve as the Site Leader for our Austin legal entity concerning administrative and legal compliance
- Oversee daily office operations to ensure a productive and well-coordinated work environment
- Maintain regular communication and alignment with headquarters in Germany
