Requirements
Must:
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical, Biomedical, Chemical, Polymer Science, or a related Engineering or Material Science field.
- Over 6 years of experience in the design and development of medical devices.
- Proven track record of leading design initiatives for Class II or III medical devices.
- Strong grasp of feasibility testing, test method formulation, and best practices in documentation.
- Demonstrated ability to tackle complex technical challenges and successfully complete projects in a matrixed environment.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a focus on design documentation and traceability.
Responsibilities
- Drive design and development activities for designated subsystems or product components during the early stages of the Product Development Process.
- Collaborate with external partners to assess and evaluate the performance of current materials, while researching improved materials for existing products and detailing specifications to support new product development.
- Work alongside cross-functional teams (Marketing, Industrial Design, Clinical, Regulatory, Project Management) to address high-level technical evaluations and resolve critical technical challenges.
- Engage in early-stage research by conducting ethnographic studies and gathering customer insights to identify unmet needs, perform technical assessments of materials and processes, conduct feasibility testing, and develop test methods and prototypes.
- Utilize engineering principles in mechanical design, fluid dynamics, materials science, and electromechanical integration to generate effective solutions.
- Partner with marketing teams to ensure designs meet customer requirements.
- Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineering team members.
- Contribute to intellectual property development through innovative design and thorough technical documentation.
