Requirements
Must:
We are looking for candidates with the following qualifications:
- Education: A Master's Degree, or at least an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree).
- Experience: A total of 10 years of experience, including a minimum of 5 years (8 preferred) in server and virtual design and administration, ideally in DoD or USAF environments.
- Security Clearance: A Secret Clearance is required, with eligibility for Top Secret and Special Access Program (SAP) access. U.S. Citizenship is mandatory.
- Certifications: DoD 8570 IAT Level II compliant (Security+ CE certification) along with VMware, CompTIA Server+, Windows, Linux+, or related certifications.
- A strong understanding of server operating systems (Windows Server, Linux).
- Familiarity with network devices (routers, switches, firewalls).
- Proficiency in VMware vSphere/ESXi, Hyper-V management and administration.
- Experience with scripting (Ansible, Python, PowerShell, Bash, etc.) and containerization technologies (Kubernetes, Docker, etc.).
- Knowledge of Risk Management Framework (RMF), Authority to Operate (ATO) documentation, and enclave compliance management.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with cybersecurity teams and system owners.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and adaptability to fieldwork and hands-on installations.
Responsibilities
As a Senior Server Systems Engineer, your key responsibilities will include:
- Collaborating with systems and network engineers to design and implement network configurations for current and upcoming environments, providing expertise in server and network administration.
- Assisting in the deployment of STARNet solutions that support ongoing research, development, and DevSecOps while coordinating closely with network and cybersecurity engineers to maintain servers and network devices.
- Participating in server and network planning for long-term projects, including SDREN integration and the Weapons Technology Integration Center (WTIC).
- Offering insights on server and network innovation strategies that align with mission objectives and emerging technologies.
- Ensuring strong infrastructure support for research operations by coordinating with facilities, engineering, and security teams, focusing on server and network hardware needs.
- Supporting the virtualization, containerization, and orchestration of systems for laboratory computing, HPC, and edge devices.
- Implementing security controls on servers and network devices, ensuring compliance with NIST 800-series, DoD RMF, and cybersecurity best practices.
- Managing VMware virtualization infrastructure, managing storage, automation, and orchestration solutions.
- Monitoring server and network performance, maintaining technical documentation, and implementing a Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) solution.
