Requirements

Must:
- Expertise in Optical networking. - Significant experience troubleshooting Layer 0 and 1 network issues in large-scale production settings. - Practical knowledge of network monitoring tools such as SolarWinds, Nagios, PRTG, or similar. - Advanced understanding of troubleshooting transport/transmission networks and transceivers. - Experience in capturing and analyzing network traffic for diagnostic purposes. - Proficient with ticketing systems like ServiceNow, Jira, or equivalents. - Strong analytical skills and a problem-solving approach. - Excellent communication and documentation abilities for tracking and resolving incidents. - Proven capacity to thrive in fast-paced, mission-critical environments. - Strong sense of ownership and urgency in troubleshooting network issues. - Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Networking, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience. - At least 3 years of experience in network operations, particularly with IP and Optical networks. - Preferred certifications: OC-A or OC-P (Infinera Optical Communications Associate/Professional), CCNP (Cisco Certified Network Professional), JNCIP (Juniper Networks Certified Internet Professional).

Responsibilities

- Operate and resolve issues within a global Optical network. - Execute fault isolation and resolution for Layer 0 and 1 network problems. - Take charge of tickets generated by network events and collaborate with field resources for resolution. - Manage and escalate critical incidents, ensuring clear communication with stakeholders. - Assist in troubleshooting network circuits and hardware, including patch panels, optics, and cabling. - Identify and analyze various error/failure conditions across diverse network device types. - Provide on-the-ground support for network incidents, working with peers and cross-functional teams. - Serve as the escalation point during business hours for troubleshooting and process challenges. - Coordinate with field teams to resolve issues affecting network infrastructure. - Take ownership of incident response processes, escalating to higher-level support when necessary. - Quickly respond to significant network incidents, supporting the SEV initiation and resolution processes. - Oversee the monitoring of network infrastructure ticket queues for timely and accurate handling. - Document incident resolution steps while maintaining accurate logs in ticketing systems. - Contribute to the development of monitors, alerts, dashboards, and performance metrics to enhance operations. - Provide insights on recurring network issues to refine troubleshooting procedures and SOPs. - Participate in network optimization initiatives, assisting in scaling efforts. - Document and enhance operational processes and procedures, ensuring alignment with best practices. - Adhere to Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) processes and collaborate with vendors for hardware replacements. - Maintain accurate inventory and documentation in cooperation with audit and asset management teams. - Track tickets for compliance with SLAs, ensuring prompt resolution of issues.
