Requirements
Must:
- Extensive proficiency in COBOL, JCL, DB2, CICS, and VSAM
- Strong foundation in core mainframe principles
- In-depth knowledge of job setup, PROC/INCLUDE, condition codes, and dataset management in JCL
- Expertise in modularization, error handling, and performance considerations in COBOL
- Skilled in SQL, particularly joins and subqueries, along with understanding of embedded SQL in COBOL
- Familiar with system design principles in CICS, including task initiation and error handling
- Hands-on experience with IBM mainframe tools like FileAid and Expeditor
- Familiarity with mainframe modernization tools or cloud migration is advantageous
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and enhance mainframe applications utilizing COBOL, JCL, DB2, CICS, and VSAM
- Maintain and optimize current code to enhance performance and scalability
- Conduct root-cause analysis and address production challenges within service level agreements
- Analyze business requirements and translate them into technical specifications
- Engage in architecture and design discussions for system enhancements
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate mainframe components seamlessly
- Develop and execute various test cases, including unit, integration, and regression tests
- Support QA teams in planning tests and resolving defects
- Ensure adherence to coding standards and maintain documentation
- Provide L2/L3 support for mission-critical applications
- Monitor and troubleshoot batch jobs and data-related issues
- Participate in the on-call rotation for production support as needed
- Work closely with business analysts, testers, and project managers to deliver superior solutions
- Prepare and maintain all technical documentation, including design specifications and operational procedures
- Participate in peer reviews to promote coding quality and knowledge sharing
Description
We are seeking a Senior Mainframe Developer who will be instrumental in designing, developing, and supporting key COBOL, JCL, DB2, CICS, and VSAM applications. This role requires working primarily in the office three days a week, ensuring collaboration and direct communication.
