Requirements

Must:
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related field - Minimum of 5 years of experience with Flight Management Systems in a commercial aviation setting - Strong preference for candidates with Next Generation Flight Management Systems experience - Proven track record in integrated avionics lab environments for issue resolution and testing - Familiarity with civil aviation standards, regulations, and certification practices - Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and technical writing capabilities

Responsibilities

- Support the definition, analysis, and validation of requirements for Flight Management Systems, ideally with NGFMS expertise - Assist in the development and enhancement of lateral and vertical flight planning functionalities - Contribute to Performance Based Navigation (RNAV, RNP) and trajectory management/optimization functions - Analyze the behavior of FMS, system interactions, and the operational implications of design modifications - Conduct extensive work in integrated avionics lab environments (e.g., SIL, HIL, Iron Bird or similar) - Investigate and resolve system-level issues involving FMS, navigation sensors, autoflight systems, and cockpit displays - Perform root cause analysis, reproduce defects, and verify corrective measures - Develop and manage system requirements with traceability to both aircraft-level and regulatory criteria - Support verification and validation efforts in lab, simulator, and actual aircraft settings - Ensure adherence to sanctioned development, verification, and configuration management processes - Apply industry standards and regulatory knowledge to system development and testing - Support safety and certification activities in line with ARP4754A/B, ARP4761, DO-178C, and applicable FAA/EASA guidelines - Assist with certification reviews, audits, and resolution of issues - Collaborate with software, hardware, safety, flight test, and human factors teams - Participate in technical reviews, issue resolution boards, and certification activities - Engage with internal and external stakeholders, including suppliers and customers

We are seeking FMS Systems Engineers for our Next Generation Flight Management System (NGFMS) team, located in Phoenix, AZ. In this role, you will play a vital part in the development, integration, investigation, and certification of NGFMS for commercial aircraft.
