Requirements
Must:
- Extensive experience in Python for backend engineering
- Proficient in API design and development (REST, JSON, OpenAPI)
- Solid background in system design with a focus on scalability and fault tolerance
- Familiarity with platform engineering and constructing shared backend architectures
- Strong knowledge of database technologies (SQL and NoSQL)
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform
- Understanding of CI/CD pipelines, Git, and DevOps methodologies
- Bachelors or Masters degree from a Canadian university or college
- Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities

- Experience within financial services or fintech domains
- Knowledge of microservices architecture
- Familiarity with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Exposure to security standards and high-availability systems
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and sustain scalable backend services utilizing Python
- Create and administer RESTful APIs and backend integrations
- Engage in platform engineering initiatives to enhance reliability and scalability
- Lead discussions regarding system design for distributed architectures
- Collaborate with frontend, DevOps, and product teams to deliver complete solutions
- Enhance performance, security, and observability of backend services
- Participate in code reviews and uphold engineering best practices
