Requirements
Must:
- Masters Degree in Museum Science, Paleontology, Geology, Physical Anthropology, Anatomy, or a related field
- A combination of education and experience equivalent to 5 to 7 years in relevant fields
- 3-5 years of experience in natural history museums
- Familiarity with standard museum protocols for handling specimens in research and teaching
- Knowledge of collections documentation practices, including cataloging and provenance research
- Experience in digital database management and development
- Understanding of museum security standards
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and time management abilities
- Keen attention to detail
- Ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively
- Proficiency in database, spreadsheet, and word processing software
- Successful completion of criminal background checks and pre-employment physical tests
- Valid drivers license for operating college vehicles
Responsibilities
- Oversee the cataloging and maintenance of nine museum collections, including digital database management
- Conduct research on specimens and provenance, updating major collections as necessary
- Address research inquiries and support academic needs of students, faculty, and visiting scientists
- Develop temporary and special exhibitions
- Represent the museum at regional and national conferences
- Manage accession and deaccession procedures in compliance with museum policies
- Supervise the physical stability and condition of specimens across two facilities
- Implement interventions to mitigate deterioration of collections
- Conduct specimen repairs and manage specialized treatments as needed
- Maintain documentation of museum history and collaborate with college archives
- Handle daily purchasing operations and logistics for museum supplies
- Manage public relations and communication for the museum
- Oversee custodial activities and provide specialized training to staff
- Participate in museum programming and outreach events

This fixed-term role offers a competitive salary between $35.00 and $40.00 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience.
