Requirements
Must:
- Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering, Materials Science, or a related discipline with a focus on Concrete Engineering; Masters degree preferred.
- At least 8 years of experience in concrete engineering or similar fields.
- Professional Engineer (PE) licensure is mandatory.
- Advanced skills in concrete design software and modeling tools.
- Proven track record in managing large-scale concrete engineering projects.
Responsibilities
- Plan, oversee, and execute various concrete engineering projects while maintaining scope, timeline, and budget.
- Create project scopes, testing protocols, and tailored recommendations for intricate concrete applications.
- Conduct risk assessments and develop plans to address technical and logistical issues.
- Analyze concrete properties, including creep, fatigue, thermal behavior, and alkali-silica reactivity (ASR).
- Develop and evaluate specialized high-performance concrete mixes, including lightweight, high-strength, and self-consolidating varieties.
- Lead investigations into concrete failures to identify causes and devise corrective actions.
- Review and authorize technical reports and design documents for accuracy and compliance with industry standards.
- Serve as the main technical liaison for clients, fulfilling their concrete engineering needs and inquiries.
- Present technical findings and recommendations to clients and stakeholders clearly and consultatively.
- Support business development initiatives by contributing to proposals and identifying new growth opportunities while fostering client relationships.
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior and mid-level engineers, ensuring their output aligns with project objectives.
- Conduct internal training sessions on advanced concrete engineering topics and best practices.
- Review and validate the work of junior staff to ensure quality and adherence to standards.
- Identify and apply process improvements to increase efficiency and consistency in engineering workflows.
- Integrate emerging technologies, such as digital twin modeling or AI-driven material optimization, into project processes.
- Collaborate with other departments to enhance resource allocation and promote efficient project execution.
- Ensure compliance with ACI, ASTM, AASHTO, MnDOT, and environmental regulations, as well as our internal safety and quality protocols.
- Foster and maintain a proactive safety culture throughout project planning and execution, including when indirectly overseeing laboratory evaluations.
