Requirements
Must:
- I have over 3 years of management experience leading engineering teams.
- I possess at least 7 years of direct experience working in engineering teams.
- I have more than 3 years of experience designing or architecting both new and existing systems, with a focus on design patterns, reliability, and scalability.
- I have over 8 years of experience spearheading the definition and development of multi-tier web services.
- I am knowledgeable about engineering practices and patterns pertaining to the full software/hardware/network development lifecycle, including coding standards, code review, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and live site operations.
- I can demonstrate experience collaborating with product or program management teams.
Responsibilities
- I lead a team of engineers to own and sustain AWS SDKs, guiding them in the scoping and execution of features and issues.
- I understand how an open-source project operates and integrate that knowledge with our internal processes.
- I manage the professional growth of all engineers within the team.
- I collaborate with SDK leadership to take on new projects and conduct yearly planning.
- I work with other AWS teams to deliver cross-organizational features.
- My daily activities include managing routine scrum activities, reviewing requests from other AWS teams, and involving myself in the design and delivery of features across the 13 SDKs.
- I facilitate collaboration with AWS teams to help them release their new features via our SDKs.
- I propose innovative approaches to building the SDKs.
Description
Our AWS SDK teams are dedicated to simplifying AWS usage for developers, enabling them to create secure, reliable, idiomatic, and high-performing applications with any AWS service in popular programming languages. We accomplish this through the following initiatives: 1) providing SDKs that encompass all AWS service APIs, 2) ensuring consistency across AWS Service APIs, 3) overseeing the overall developer experience in all supported programming languages, and 4) delivering libraries that offer higher-level abstractions, reducing the complexity associated with using AWS Services. I also value communication with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to gather requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and outline product strategies. I am experienced in recruiting, hiring, mentoring, coaching, and managing teams of Software Engineers to enhance their skills and effectiveness.
