Requirements
Must:
- 3+ years of experience managing engineering teams
- 7+ years of engineering experience
- 8+ years of experience in defining and developing multi-tier web services
- 3+ years of experience as a Software Engineer, Software Developer, or in a similar role
- 1+ years of providing technical leadership and overseeing project management throughout the software development lifecycle
- 1+ years of experience in developing large-scale, multi-tier distributed software systems using Java, C#, or C++
- 1+ years of experience in developing large-scale distributed software systems utilizing service-oriented architecture
- 1+ years of experience in distributed programming for large-scale applications
- Bachelors degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related discipline
- Familiarity with software, hardware, and networks development lifecycle practices including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and live site operations
- Experience collaborating with product or program management teams
Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise a team of software development engineers focused on RPM package maintenance, creation, testing, and release for fundamental components such as compilers, linkers, debuggers, and associated toolchains
- Own the technical vision, architecture, and delivery of packaging pipelines, ensuring packages are secure, reproducible, and optimized for performance on AWS
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including kernel engineers, security personnel, and AWS service owners to prioritize features, resolve dependencies, and tackle customer pain points
- Recruit, mentor, coach, and develop outstanding engineering talent, promoting an inclusive team culture centered on innovation and high standards
- Partner with product management and stakeholders to establish priorities, focusing on customer requirements (e.g., developer productivity, compatibility, security)
- Influence the long-term strategy for Amazon Linux packaging, encompassing tools, processes, and contributions to open-source projects
- Ensure operational excellence through monitoring, incident response, and relentless improvement of build and release systems
- Communicate progress, risks, and technical designs effectively to senior leadership
