Requirements
Must:
- Over 3 years of experience managing engineering teams
- More than 7 years of direct involvement within engineering teams
- At least 3 years of experience in designing or architecting new and existing systems, focusing on design patterns, reliability, and scalability
- 8+ years of experience leading the definition and development of multi-tier web services
- In-depth understanding of engineering practices and patterns across the full software, hardware, and networks development lifecycle
- Experience collaborating with product or program management teams
Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a team of 8-12 Software Development Engineers focused on EC2 server provisioning and infrastructure delivery
- Conduct regular one-on-one meetings, providing ongoing feedback and promoting career advancement for all team members
- Recruit and onboard top engineering talent to align with organizational goals
- Foster an inclusive team culture that encourages innovation, collaboration, and operational excellence
- Own the technical roadmap and delivery of EC2 provisioning systems for Trainium UltraServer Platforms
- Drive architectural decisions to ensure scalable provisioning and maintenance of Amazons rapidly growing EC2 UltraServer fleet
- Collaborate with senior leadership and peer Software Development Managers to ensure team priorities are aligned with wider EC2 objectives
- Work closely with Principal Engineers and Senior Software Development Engineers to establish technical standards and best practices
- Promote continuous enhancements to software development practices such as CI/CD pipelines, testing frameworks, and deployment automation
- Champion operational metrics and strategies to improve system reliability, lessen toil, and speed up delivery
- Balance immediate delivery commitments with long-term technical debt reduction and system modernization

Our team is pivotal in ensuring that EC2 instances are available to our customers at all times, playing a crucial role in the elastic capacity of EC2. We focus on creating systems and automation to support large-scale AI infrastructure. In this role, you will lead an agile provisioning team dedicated to delivering AWS Trainium UltraServers.
