Requirements

Must:
- 6+ years of experience in data center design, construction, operations, or facility maintenance - Bachelors degree in Engineering or related field - In-depth knowledge of essential data center mechanical and electrical systems - Proven ability to develop solutions and execute plans for complex projects - Background in industrial or commercial engineering in mission-critical facilities, including data centers, power generation, or oil and gas sectors - Experience in researching innovative designs, technologies, and construction methods for data center equipment and facilities - Professional Engineering or Architectural License preferred - Familiarity with local building codes and regulations - Ability to take design concepts through exploration, development, and into deployment or mass production - Proficiency in reading, interpreting, and creating construction drawings, specifications, and submittal documents - Masters degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field is a plus

Responsibilities

- Collaborate with internal partner teams to gather customer feedback and establish design requirements for product development - Lead the design, development, and qualification of crucial electrical power distribution equipment for AWS data centers, focusing primarily on medium voltage switchgear and transformers, as well as connections with low voltage switchgear and power distribution - Develop Capital and Operational expenditure budgets, considering vendor development costs, prototyping needs, testing, and specialized tooling requirements - Work with global suppliers and manufacturers to specify appropriate electrical equipment and components, ensuring resilience in the tier 2-3 supply chain - Ensure compliance with UL, CSA, IEC, and federal, state, and municipal codes across various regions through appropriate testing levels - Validate designs through prototypes, pre-production, and first-of-a-kind builds, conducting DFx and value engineering analyses at each stage, while updating designs and documentation - Collaborate with field engineering and commissioning teams to effectively test and validate installation, operation, and performance of electrical products - Provide support for manufacturing activities for new products across concurrent projects in multiple locations - Act as a leader within the product development team and coordinate with internal and external teams that support the data center
