Night Shift Data Center Engineering Lead

As a member of our South Bend Data Center Engineering Operations Team, you will be engaged in maintaining the vital physical infrastructure that substantiates Amazon Web Services. Our team ensures that the Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems within the data center function at 100% availability, delivering top-notch customer service to internal teams. In the role of Night Shift Data Center Chief Engineer (CE), you will ensure that all electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment operates efficiently. This includes planned maintenance, corrective work, and responding to emergencies. You will act as a technical expert, reporting to the site’s Data Center Facility Manager while collaborating with onsite Engineering Operations Technicians and third-party vendors. We expect you to manage small to medium impact projects from inception to completion, often working independently but also collaborating with various support groups. Key responsibilities include developing project milestones, tracking costs, and documenting outcomes for future application across other facilities to drive innovation and enhance resiliency while minimizing operational costs. Furthermore, as CE, you will guide and mentor Engineering Operations Technicians (EOTs) in troubleshooting hands-on electrical and mechanical equipment. You will implement site-specific training initiatives for equipment, including but not limited to standby diesel generators, switchgear, uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), and building automation systems.
