We are looking for candidates who have a technical background and experience in the installation, troubleshooting, operation, and/or maintenance of field sensors, controllers, wiring, networking, and programming related to industrial control systems. Relevant experience in operating and maintaining mission-critical electrical and mechanical systems is also important. Applicants should possess the following qualifications:
- A technical (Military/Trade School) diploma or Associate degree, along with a year of experience related to industrial instrumentation/controls or equivalent electrical or mechanical operations experience.
- At least one year of experience working with computer components and operating systems.
- A minimum of one-year experience with mission-critical low and medium voltage electrical and/or mechanical systems.
- A basic understanding of industrial control systems, controllers, and programming, including troubleshooting of industrial controls and field signals.
- Preferred experience includes working in a Data Center or mission-critical environment, holding a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a relevant field, and being an International Society of Automation (ISA) Certified Controls System Technician (CCST) Level I or higher.
- Fundamental knowledge of network design and layout, as well as low voltage (copper/fiber) cabling is highly desired.
Responsibilities
As a member of our Controls organization, your role as a Controls Technician will involve participating in the installation, testing, troubleshooting, and startup of equipment and control systems associated with Building Management Systems (BMS) and Electrical Power Monitoring Systems (EPMS) in our data centers. Key responsibilities will include:
- Primarily working in and supporting multiple data centers by deploying, servicing, and upgrading BMS and EPMS systems.
- Mentoring and training Facilities team members on the operation and control of BMS and EPMS.
- Auditing, maintaining, and managing computer-based enterprise asset management systems for installations.
- Managing small to medium-sized projects and programs.
- Performing diagnostics, troubleshooting, and maintenance of programming code and hardware related to BMS and EPMS in data centers.
- Conducting provisioning processes for servers, controllers, industrial PCs, and network configurations, as well as testing communication between devices.
- Installing, replacing, configuring, and calibrating sensors.
- Supervising low voltage electrical contractors and ensuring compliance with AWS requirements.
- Creating documentation and participating in factory witness tests at vendor locations.
- Performing root cause analysis during testing and commissioning, ensuring safety methodologies are followed on-site.
- Responding to on-call situations and after-hours emergencies as needed.
