Chief Engineer, Data Center Operations

- Serve as the primary escalation contact for facilities-related concerns - Oversee and manage routine and emergency operations for critical systems, including switchgear, generators, UPS systems, power distribution, chillers, cooling towers, and building monitoring systems - Conduct root cause analysis of equipment failures, ensuring facility issues are resolved within internal Service Level Agreements (SLAs) - Provide training and mentorship to Engineering Operations Technicians, fostering a positive team culture in collaboration with the Facility Manager - Develop and implement new standard practices for Engineering Operations Technicians, Chief Engineers, and vendor support teams - Participate in the construction of new facilities and contribute to projects aimed at enhancing current facility efficiency - Perform routine maintenance outside standard business hours as required, including responding to emergency calls - Translate complex technical details for a non-technical audience - Collaborate with IT managers and other leaders on project coordination, capacity management, and optimizing plant safety, performance, and reliability - Ensure adherence to all safety protocols by both vendor and Amazon staff - Set performance benchmarks for building operations, conduct analyses, and prepare reports on facility maintenance - Utilize administrative tools such as Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook for daily operations - Exhibit the physical capability to lift and move up to 39 pounds independently, participate in group lifts for heavier objects, and maintain physical balance during tasks including ladder work
