Requirements
Must:
- U.S. Citizenship required
- Bachelors degree in cybersecurity, computer science, engineering (mechanical, electrical, controls, systems), IT, or a related field, or equivalent experience and training
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in federal government settings
- Proficient with OT or industrial systems (building automation, power/backup systems, lab or facility controls)
- Familiar with OT/industrial protocols (BACnet, Modbus)
- Knowledge of security frameworks (NIST SP 800-82, NIST SP 800-53, CIS Controls)
- Entry-level certifications such as Security+, Network+, CySA+, or OT/ICS-focused training are preferred
- Experience using OT security platforms (Nozomi, Dragos, Claroty)
- Understanding of federal security frameworks (FedRAMP, FISMA, RMF, NIST CSF, NIST SP 800-series)
Responsibilities
- Assist in cataloging and documenting OT/ICS assets and networks
- Maintain diagrams of OT network and data flows, ensuring segmented zones are updated
- Monitor OT network segments for any unusual or suspicious activities
- Help triage OT-related security alerts and collaborate with cybersecurity and facilities teams
- Support vulnerability tracking, including patch management and system hardening
- Contribute to OT risk assessments, security documentation, and compliance initiatives like NIST-based controls
- Collaborate with facilities, biomedical/clinical engineering teams, and vendors to plan secure modifications and maintenance tasks
Description
We are currently seeking an OT Cybersecurity Engineer to fortify the security of Operational Technology (OT) environments, which encompass building automation, utilities, and other vital facility systems. This position will be based in Bethesda, Maryland, on a hybrid schedule of three days onsite and two days remote. Our ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in OT security within the Washington, DC metro region. We offer a collaborative work environment that requires adherence to PPE and safety protocols while providing significant opportunities for professional development.
