Requirements
Must:
- 3+ years of experience in machine learning infrastructure, backend engineering, or AI platform development.
- Proven experience deploying large language models and generative AI systems in production using various frameworks like PyTorch, TensorFlow, Hugging Face, and Azure OpenAI.
- Demonstrated expertise in post-training processes, alignment, fine-tuning, and deployment of LLMs.
- Strong skills in backend development utilizing Python (FastAPI, Flask, or Django) and REST/GraphQL APIs.
- Practical experience with GPU inference and performance optimization.
- Knowledge of vector databases (Pinecone, Weaviate, Milvus, or FAISS) and semantic search techniques.
- Ability to thrive in an early-stage startup environment and effectively manage uncertainty.
Responsibilities
- Design, create, and implement retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) pipelines employing LLMs and vector databases.
- Develop secure backend APIs for data ingestion, indexing, and semantic search across various enterprise systems (e.g., SharePoint, Teams, SQL).
- Manage GPU-based inference environments to ensure scalability, low latency, and cost efficiency.
- Apply MLOps best practices for the training, fine-tuning, evaluation, and deployment of generative AI models.
- Collaborate with founding team members on architectural decisions and the evaluation of build-vs-buy scenarios to expedite our technical roadmap.
- Oversee the complete lifecycle from prototype to MVP to production, while ensuring security, compliance, and readiness for enterprise use.
- Assist in prototyping lightweight front-end interfaces to exhibit platform functionalities.

We are seeking an experienced engineer to spearhead the development of our AI/ML infrastructure and generative systems, with a potential trajectory towards the CTO role. This full-time position is based in Cambridge, MA, and offers a competitive salary ranging from $110,000 to $120,000 annually, along with benefits such as a flexible schedule, health insurance, and paid time off.
