Requirements
Must:
- Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field, or a combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge
- No prior work experience required beyond the degree for Level 1 Engineer
- Experience in conducting reliability power system studies is preferred
- Familiarity with renewable generation resources, including Wind, Solar, or Battery systems is advantageous
- Skills in analyzing voltage levels and relay or protection settings
- Proficiency in Python, Powerworld, PSSE, or PSCAD is desirable
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with external stakeholders
Responsibilities
- Conduct reliability power system assessments, including steady-state and dynamic stability studies, to evaluate the impact of inverter-based resource performance on the ERCOT system
- Review technical data submissions pertaining to voltage ride-through (VRT) and frequency ride-through (FRT) to verify compliance with ERCOT standards
- Assist in the formulation of processes and procedures aligned with NOGRR 245 and subsequent regulations at the PUCT, alongside related ERCOT revision requests
- Provide technical support to cross-functional project teams to process submissions and assess IBR performance based on ERCOT criteria, while coordinating with other departments
- Engage with market participants to clarify requirements, facilitate submissions, and implement modifications or exemptions
- Assess and recommend the status of requests for extensions and exemptions from VRT and FRT requirements to management
- Potentially represent ERCOT in stakeholder groups
