Requirements
Must:
- Currently enrolled full-time in a Bachelors program in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- Availability to work full-time for at least 10 weeks outside of university terms and ability to return to full-time study after the internship.
- Minimum GPA of 3.0.
- Completed coursework and/or foundational knowledge of power systems.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance issued by the US government; U.S. citizenship is required for this.
- Transcripts are required.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical assistance in Power Systems Engineering.
- Utilize academic skills to develop satellite energy balance and launch vehicle energy depletion analysis models, with guidance from industry experts.
- Collaborate with experienced Power Systems Engineering team members to deepen understanding of satellite subsystems operating on spacecraft and launch vehicle power buses.
- Employ or develop system-level modeling tools to characterize hardware performance.
- Learn the operational aspects of satellites during launch and initialization processes.
- Understand how various spacecraft subsystems such as Thermal Control, Attitude Control, Flight Mechanics, and Communications work together to produce data for vehicle-level evaluations.
- Gain hands-on experience in power electronics modeling, simulation, and testing in a lab setting.
- Compose clear and concise reports detailing your findings.
- Be adaptable to new duties and responsibilities as needed.
