Requirements

Must:
- Bachelors degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or a similar technical discipline - Minimum of 3 years of structural engineering experience - Proficiency in finite element analysis - Experience with structural mechanics including composite materials, nonlinear materials, and finite element methods - Willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 20% of the time - Eligibility to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance - For Engineering Specialist: 6 years of structural engineering experience - Knowledge of flight qualification strategies from a structural lens - Familiarity with Nastran, Abaqus, or other commercial finite element software

Responsibilities

- Address design and testing challenges through comprehensive structural assessments of launch vehicle components - Provide technical advice to management, clients, contractors, and government bodies regarding test plans, procedures, objectives, and criteria for success - Enhance mission assurance by evaluating structural integrity and survivability, acknowledging varying program risks - Oversee the evaluation and test of launch vehicle hardwares structural integrity - Maintain advanced expertise in design, evaluation, and testing of space structures including: - Structural mechanics analysis methods - Failure criteria - Composite design criteria - Fracture and fatigue concepts - Damage tolerance considerations - Advanced finite element analysis techniques - Collaborate with inter-organizational teams to identify and resolve technical challenges: - Work with technical specialists at contractor sites to address issues - Engage with interdisciplinary teams to tackle cross-functional problems - Keep management and clients updated on emerging risks
