Requirements
Must:
- Masters degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or a related field
- 5 years of academic research or professional industry experience in fluid mechanics
- Familiarity with incompressible and compressible flow theory
- Proficiency in analytical methods and computational fluid dynamics
- Willingness to travel domestically approximately 20% of the time
- Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance; U.S. citizenship is required
Responsibilities
- Conduct analyses, modeling, planning, and evaluations for fluid systems in space, launch, and reentry vehicles
- Evaluate steady and transient internal fluid flows in vehicle components and subsystems for single-phase and multi-phase conditions
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to address technical challenges
- Engage in day-of-launch activities at on-site facilities and national launch locations
- Support on-site and off-site technical interchange meetings and contractor analysis reviews, along with hardware and mission assurance evaluations
- Stay current with advancements in fluid mechanics technologies pertinent to space, launch, and reentry vehicles
- Provide impartial technical insights to government and civil sector clients
- Maintain close collaboration with program offices and interface with contractors, government personnel, research laboratories, and academic institutions
