Requirements

Must:
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical/STEM field - Over 8 years of experience in data engineering, distributed systems, or platform architecture - Minimum of 2 years in a technical leadership or people management role - Proven experience in designing data systems and architectures - Familiarity with real-time data processing and event-driven systems - Strong communication skills for both technical and executive audiences - Familiarity with data mesh or data fabric architectures - Knowledge of data streaming technologies (e.g., Apache Kafka, Pulsar, Kinesis, Spark) - Experience with distributed object storage and NoSQL databases (e.g., Cassandra, DynamoDB, MongoDB) - Understanding of governance, observability, and data cataloging frameworks - Knowledge of security and data access control mechanisms - Ability to lead in a matrixed organization, managing multiple programs and priorities - Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance, requiring U.S. citizenship

Responsibilities

- Direct the design and implementation of distributed data platforms, data fabrics, and data mesh capabilities - Supervise the creation of scalable data pipelines for batch, streaming, and real-time analytics - Propel the adoption of modern data technologies, methodologies, and governance frameworks - Facilitate secure cross-domain data sharing and integration - Advise on architectural data decisions supporting AI/ML, digital engineering, and operational analytics - Manage and develop a team of data architects, engineers, and platform specialists (approximately 6-10 staff) - Establish technical direction, priorities, and performance expectations - Mentor team members to enhance expertise in distributed systems and modern data platforms - Encourage a culture of innovation, teamwork, and engineering excellence - Support workforce development and strategic hiring initiatives - Collaborate with program leadership, customers, and enterprise stakeholders - Convert mission needs into actionable technical roadmaps and deliverables - Assist in proposal development, technical reviews, and executive briefings - Coordinate with software, AI/ML, cyber, cloud, and domain engineering teams - Ensure solutions are in alignment with enterprise architecture standards and compliance requirements
