Requirements
Must:
- Typically requires a bachelors degree in Engineering with 2-5 years of relevant experience in the field or a related area.
- Strong ability to manage multiple projects within matrix team environments and adhere to strict schedules.
- Excellent communication and leadership capabilities.
- Experience in System Safety within the aerospace sector.
- Skilled in developing fault trees and conducting failure modes, effects, and analyses via root cause analysis methods.
- Proficient in performing hazard analyses and creating hazard reports.
- Strong foundation in spaceflight systems safety and systems engineering.
Responsibilities
- Provide safety expertise for Government Furnished Equipment (GFE) Flight projects, Space Flight projects, and Payload Flight projects supporting NASA programs (ISS, Artemis, Gateway).
- Participate as a key member of the Project Team throughout all project phases, from initiation to product delivery for flight.
- Create the initial safety assessment, Hazard Analysis, Failure Modes and Effects Analysis, and the Safety Data Package for the project.
- Represent the project at all Safety Reviews and act as the safety expert for the project.
- Present Safety Data Packages to the Safety Review Panel, MPCV Safety & Engineering Review Panel, and/or the ISS Payload Safety Review Panel.
- Ensure high-quality documentation is delivered in accordance with project schedules.
- Support the revision of safety documents due to changes in existing flight products.
- Assist with various safety activities as needed.
- Provide weekly updates on accomplishments and project status.
- Undertake additional duties as required.
- Foster strong working relationships with clients, colleagues, and management.
- Engage directly with customers and regulatory bodies (e.g., DOD, NASA, FAA, DCMA, or Range Safety) to meet safety goals.
