Requirements
Must:
- Minimum of 5 years of design experience in an OEM manufacturing setting
- At least 3 years of experience with parametric CAD software
- Strong background in sheet metal design and weldments
- Knowledge of heat exchanger products and brazing processes is desirable
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) is required
- A Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Management, or an MBA is a plus
- Demonstrated expertise in the design of engine cooling and air conditioning components
- Extensive understanding of heat transfer physics and fluid flow phenomena as applied to vehicles
- Strong analytical capabilities, including heat transfer analysis, stress analysis, and energy balances within cooling systems
- Proficiency with solid modeling design software
- Familiarity with production methods and designing for manufacturability
- Knowledge of welding, brazing, and metal forming processes
- Excellent project management skills and experience with predictive tracking tools like Microsoft Project and Excel
- Experience using quality tools such as FMEAs, Design of Experiments, and SPC
Responsibilities
- Exhibit expert design and analysis capabilities with minimal supervision
- Create and implement customer-focused designs
- Specify materials and evaluate structures for durability, cost, and risk
- Lead Design FMEA activities involving cross-functional teams across various departments
- Serve as the technical liaison in support of sales while building and maintaining customer relationships
- Travel as needed, both domestically and internationally
- Provide support to manufacturing during prototyping and production launches
- Supervise designer/drafters assisting on projects
- Perform additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned or required by the department
- Utilize leadership skills and sound judgment to enhance sales volume and profitability
- Foster long-term relationships with customers
- Drive departmental improvement projects
