Requirements
Must:
- Bachelors degree in an engineering discipline, or equivalent relevant experience considered.
- Over 5 years of engineering expertise in a high-paced, high-volume manufacturing setting, preferably in the automotive sector.
- Solid understanding of PLC-driven machinery, including controls programming, troubleshooting, and modifications; experience with Allen-Bradley, Mitsubishi, or Keyence PLCs is advantageous.
- Familiarity with machine vision systems such as Cognex or Keyence.
- Experience in programming, troubleshooting, and supporting AGVs and robotic systems including FANUC, ABB, or Yaskawa/Motoman.
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities within a multicultural context, adept at managing multiple priorities and collaborating across departments.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing methodologies, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement practices.
- Ability to meet physical demands of the job including lifting, standing, and working in a manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the development and integration of innovative automated manufacturing processes, focusing on optimizing PLC and CNC equipment, vision systems, and robotics to enhance performance.
- Support PLC machine controls on site, including programming, modifications, and troubleshooting.
- Analyze workflow and equipment layouts, create process drawings and diagrams, carry out process validations, and collect data on efficiency while troubleshooting setups and production methods as needed.
- Implement new robotics and automated guided vehicles (AGVs) to further streamline workflow efficiency.
- Specify production tooling needs and develop jigs and fixtures as required.
- Operate as a technical lead for engineering technicians in the team.
- Assist in the installation and initial startup of new equipment and provide troubleshooting support for maintenance as necessary.
- Collaborate with vendors to establish specifications and procure equipment.
- Provide estimates for production timelines, staffing needs, and other relevant considerations.
- Carry out additional duties as assigned by management.
