Requirements
Must:
- Proficient in reading, writing, and counting load tags and job details.
- Mechanically inclined with a hands-on approach.
- Able to stand for extended periods, with some walking while managing loads.
- Competent in safely operating a sheet feeder for a printing press.
- Skilled in operating a load turning machine effectively and safely.
- Capable of using both powered and unpowered pallet hand trucks.
- Strong ability to collaborate as part of a team.
- Diligent in following procedures and instructions consistently.
- Experience in the printing industry, preferably in folding carton manufacturing.
- Familiar with litho print presses or other sheet-fed printing machinery.
- Background in manufacturing or production environments.
- Knowledgeable in quality control or inspection, particularly with printed materials or packaging.
Responsibilities
- Load stock efficiently into the press and manage the sheet-fed mechanism.
- Serve as an aerator operator when necessary to ensure smooth production flow.
- Examine loads for damaged sheets and handle returns to the aerator as needed.
- Maintain a steady supply of materials for the press and organize printing supplies.
- Keep the press area tidy by disposing of waste and assisting in clean-up after printing.
- Observe print quality for defects, including issues like blanket smashes during production.
- Apply ink during make-ready and production phases.
- Coordinate with the lead pressman or manager regarding supply requirements and any pressing concerns.
- Adhere to all safety, sanitation, and quality protocols, including the use of required PPE.
- Undertake additional tasks assigned to aid press operations and contribute to team success.
