Requirements
Must:
- 5+ years of practical software engineering experience (not purely architectural)
- Proven track record of leading engineering teams
- Strong foundation in backend engineering (TypeScript or Python)
- Demonstrated experience in at least 2 of the following areas:
- RAG pipelines (FAISS, Pinecone, Weaviate, Chroma)
- LLM agent workflows (LangChain, CrewAI, custom)
- Vector database design, chunking, embedding pipelines
- LLM integration and evaluation
- Experience deploying production systems (preferably v1 builds)
- Comfortable navigating a fast-paced, ambiguous work environment
- Strong debugging, code review, and architectural insight
Bonus, but advantageous:
- Voice AI technologies (ElevenLabs, Whisper, Tymeshift, Twilio Voice, SIP, WebRTC)
- Real-time or event-driven systems
- Background in early-stage startups
- Experience enhancing outsourced engineering teams

Responsibilities
- Build, optimize, and enhance our LLM-powered voice receptionist
- Oversee both architecture and implementation across backend, AI/RAG pipelines, and integrations
- Collaborate closely with the CEO on strategic initiatives and execution
- Evaluate, enforce, and enhance engineering quality within our outsourced team
- Deliver production-grade features efficiently, ensuring reliability and observability
- Guide and mentor new engineering hires as the team expands, establishing technical direction and development standards
AI / LLM Engineering:
- Manage RAG, vector search, retrieval quality, hallucination mitigation, and evaluation pipelines
- Integrate LLMs (OpenAI, Anthropic, etc.) with tools, memory, and business logic
- Create agent workflows and voice orchestration
- Optimize latency, cost, and accuracy on a large scale
Backend & Full-Stack Engineering:
- Develop and maintain modern, production-quality microservices
- Primarily utilize TypeScript, Python, and React
- Enhance observability, logging, monitoring, CI/CD, and test automation
- Employ queues, caching, async pipelines, and distributed system patterns extensively
Voice AI / Telephony:
- Integrate STT/TTS (ElevenLabs, Whisper, etc.)
- Collaborate with telephony partners (Twilio, SIP, WebRTC)
Cross-Functional & Leadership:
- Work directly with the CEO and Product Manager
- Collaborate with operations, voice partners, and support teams
- Review and guide our outsourced engineering vendor (Scopic)
- Assume technical ownership until future hires are onboarded
