Requirements
Must:
- Masters degree in engineering, with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience focused on controls, optimization, estimation, or detection algorithms.
- Proficient in MATLAB/Simulink and programming languages such as C, C++, or Python.
- Experience in developing solutions for complex physical systems, including HVAC, mechanical, power, transportation, or aviation.
- Familiarity with embedded code development and troubleshooting.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication abilities.
- Willingness to travel for at least 2 weeks per year.
- Preferred: PhD or experience with schematic and PCB layout tools, like KiCad or Altium.
- Understanding of thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluid dynamics, and/or heat pump cycles is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Spearhead research and development of cutting-edge embedded control solutions for our water heaters, heat pumps, hydronic heat, and water treatment systems.
- Enhance energy efficiency, user experience, and product safety.
- Collaborate with product development teams to support the commercialization of new control systems.
- Create and implement advanced control algorithms using modeling, optimization, estimation, data science, and sensor technologies.
- Prototype, test, and validate control solutions in both laboratory and real-world settings.
- Document innovations through patents, technical reports, and publications.
- Work alongside global teams across North America, China, and India to integrate controls into products ready for the market.
- Stay updated on emerging technologies and contribute innovative ideas.
