Requirements

Must:
- A degree or diploma in Web Development, Computer Science, IT, or a related field, or a comparable combination of education and experience. - At least 3 years of practical experience in a webmaster, web developer, or similar position. - Proficient with contemporary CMS platforms, preferably Drupal given its popularity among universities. - Strong skills in front-end development: HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript. - Experience with responsive and mobile-first website design. - A demonstrated dedication to web accessibility (AODA/WCAG) and best practices in user experience. - Knowledge of web security protocols, Google Analytics, and fundamental SEO principles. - Exceptional problem-solving capabilities and capacity to manage multiple projects simultaneously. - Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration with both technical and non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities

- Administer, update, and maintain the universitys primary website leveraging the core Content Management System (CMS) such as Drupal, WordPress, or Adobe Experience Manager. - Create new pages, sections, and microsites; implement customized functionalities utilizing HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and PHP/Python as needed. - Perform regular site audits to assure quality, check for cross-browser compatibility, and enhance site speed and search engine optimization (SEO). - Ensure the website adheres to WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility standards and complies with applicable privacy regulations (e.g., FIPPA, CASL). - Manage website security proactively, apply core/plugin updates to the CMS, and monitor for vulnerabilities. - Act as the primary resource for web-related inquiries and provide training and support for content editors in various departments. - Utilize tools such as Google Analytics 4 and Google Search Console to track traffic, generate reports, and offer data-driven recommendations. - Partner with the Communications/Marketing team on branding, campaigns, and digital strategies; collaborate with central IT regarding server, domain, and infrastructure matters.
